well, in my defence, i do have a condition and i have been busy.

However, we have pumpkins and runner beans . The onions are up and drying. The slugs have bellies full of strawberries- WHY wont they eat the rhubarb?!!!! Potatoes are ok too, so not all bad. :)

I should go today, but the weather is murky and I have just finished work and all I really want to do is sleep, so it may have to wait until Tuesday!

…about my blog! I have been over to the allotment, mixed results. Potatoes look good, and the sugar snap peas are great, and the strawberries are pretty good. Red onions look great at the top but not much in the way of actual onion! On the downside, both carrots and tomatoes were a no show, although the 6 tomatoes my lottie neighbour gave me are doing well ,and although small are producing fruits. Out of 3 rows of beets only 3 plants have come up, but the Rhubarb is manic, I have so much, although I have now found some great recipes including smoothies. I made a rhubarb and apple cobbler which was fine except the recipe needs far more sugar, my lips tingled for ages after from the tartness!

I was given a gooseberry plant( not really a bush yet) which was doing really well , until one morning I looked and found all the leaves missing. A plague of caterpillars worked their way through every piece of foliage on it. Not sure if they hatched on the plant but I was not impressed. Shook them all off and I am hoping that it will recover.

Went over after work today (08:45) before it got too hot, at work all day in the sun yesterday so didnt manage to get over then.

watered the weeds, well that’s how it seemed. strawberries and sugar snaps doing ok. A kind neighbour/ allotment buddy gave me 7 tomato plants, and another a Gooseberry plant, all of which are surviving.

About 2 weeks ago i re-covered the leanto roof and put up some guttering, total guarantee for no rain!

Took my boy over last week to do a bug hunt for school, which ended up in me finding them for him, whilst he played with the water butt! captured some slugs, which he unfortunately allowed to escape and i think they have been exacting revenge ever since.

What has made me laugh is the Ladybirds I keep finding. Nothing strange in that, except they all seem to be shagging- and boy can they! I had to video it as it was so funny. I think my lottie is turning into an insect porn site!

Popped over yesterday to check all ok and to water my little newborns (seedlings). Weeds everywhere, so started my war on them. Surprised and delighted to see the sugar snaps poking their heads out.

Went out today and bought some brackets to put up guttering on the shed ( still need to recover the lean-to). Also been thinking of cutting down some of the pipe and sealing the ends to turn into planters, Then using brackets, mount to the wall or fence. Great for flowers, tomatoes etc. :)

had some good days. I now have a strawberry patch. Whilst digging a hole to plant aforementioned, my trowel hit something. On further investigation i found an egg! A huge one! Have decided it is probably a goose egg placed by a fox. I also discovered rotten eggs not only STINK, but the smell is a nightmare to get off.

I have also made 3 more beds, 2 square and the third (middle one) is star shaped and has herbs planted in it. The rain has been welcome as I have still been suffering effects of the flu virus and have had problems moving my neck and arms- don’t even get me started on the joy of driving and changing gear! So, rain is welcome, the rain song we sang obviously worked. Don’t want the snow tho.

Things are starting to grow! Why is it that the weeds grow faster than the actual seeds youve planted?

Went yesterday, oh how wonderful it was. I planted some onions, carrots and garlic. Admittedly it was a bit haphazard, I kept forgetting to stake my lines out first so some are slightly wonky, but hey, i’m sure the veg won’t mind.

Today the sun was shining so I went over, and my joy was somewhat shortlived when i saw the shed door swinging. Some b*****d had broken in last night. Not sure why as nothing had been touched. the chap over the way also got done over, his was ransacked, and all they took was some cigarette papers. the best bit was that he has a whiteboard that he keeps track of his planting on , and the cheeky thief had written ” I.O.U one pack of rizla” !!!!!

Police notified. Again. This is about the 7th break in on site this year. Anyway, once the excitement was over, i planted some beetroot and potted some seeds and erected my bean frame and planted some sugar snap peas, french beans and some Borlottis. Oh and then I screwed my lock back in.

All in all very pleased with what I did, still a long way to go though.

So much to choose from, so little time to plant it!

I got to play on the plot! We went over earlyish and tied the pallets together( with pretty pink twine) to make the compost heap. It’s going to take an awful lot to fill it.

I also dug out a small trench and planted the spuds. had a bit of a mishap during the cold spell and some went slimy and mouldy,oh and the mice had a good feed. Anyway, during my trying to save aforementioned potatoes, I managed to mix up my 1st, 2nd and mains. I had no way of telling which is which so they are all in the ground together.

BOB, bless, had resurrected the bean frame, however it seems the wood is pretty rotten, and I found it all in a heap on Thursday. Sorry BOB.

Some onions have also gone in. I really need to have a game plan, so I may try to work out where it’s all going to go.

The fruit trees are budding and the rhubarb has gone mad- who needs to force it!

I still have to finish the battle of the landfill, I am determined to get that great big bloody piece of carpet out of the ground. Why isn’t there any treasure to find? I’m fed up with glass, bits of metal, cat toys and bones. and carpet!!

I have planted some carrot and tomato seeds in pots in the garden, and the 9( not 10) strawberry plants I received as a freebie are coming along nicely- well 8 are, not sure about no:9. We have to get round to treating the peach tree, apparently it has leaf curl!
