I am bored. And I hate the Simpsons. And I’m bored.
I forgot. again
well, in my defence, i do have a condition and i have been busy.
However, we have pumpkins and runner beans . The onions are up and drying. The slugs have bellies full of strawberries- WHY wont they eat the rhubarb?!!!! Potatoes are ok too, so not all bad. :)
I should go today, but the weather is murky and I have just finished work and all I really want to do is sleep, so it may have to wait...

I forgot.....
…about my blog! I have been over to the allotment, mixed results. Potatoes look good, and the sugar snap peas are great, and the strawberries are pretty good. Red onions look great at the top but not much in the way of actual onion! On the downside, both carrots and tomatoes were a no show, although the 6 tomatoes my lottie neighbour gave me are doing well ,and although small are producing...

Update
Went over after work today (08:45) before it got too hot, at work all day in the sun yesterday so didnt manage to get over then.
watered the weeds, well that’s how it seemed. strawberries and sugar snaps doing ok. A kind neighbour/ allotment buddy gave me 7 tomato plants, and another a Gooseberry plant, all of which are surviving.
About 2 weeks ago i re-covered the leanto roof and put up...

the terrible idea machine: TEA RULES. →
louiseness:
My understanding of tea etiquette in England is:
OFFER YOUR GUEST TEA AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVE - GIVE THEM THE LARGER MUG, BECAUSE THEN THEY CAN HAVE MORE TEA IN IT, AND MORE TEA IS BETTER - OFFER THEM MORE TEA AS SOON AS THEY HAVE FINISHED THEIR MUG OF TEA, BECAUSE MORE TEA IS BETTER.
IF SOMEONE LOOKS STRESSED, OFFER TO MAKE THEM TEA. IF SOMEONE LOOKS UPSET, OFFER TO MAKE THEM TEA....

Popped over yesterday to check all ok and to water my little newborns (seedlings). Weeds everywhere, so started my war on them. Surprised and delighted to see the sugar snaps poking their heads out.
Went out today and bought some brackets to put up guttering on the shed ( still need to recover the lean-to). Also been thinking of cutting down some of the pipe and sealing the ends to turn into...

now, where was I........
had some good days. I now have a strawberry patch. Whilst digging a hole to plant aforementioned, my trowel hit something. On further investigation i found an egg! A huge one! Have decided it is probably a goose egg placed by a fox. I also discovered rotten eggs not only STINK, but the smell is a nightmare to get off.
I have also made 3 more beds, 2 square and the third (middle one) is star...

2 days of sunshine...
Went yesterday, oh how wonderful it was. I planted some onions, carrots and garlic. Admittedly it was a bit haphazard, I kept forgetting to stake my lines out first so some are slightly wonky, but hey, i’m sure the veg won’t mind.
Today the sun was shining so I went over, and my joy was somewhat shortlived when i saw the shed door swinging. Some b*****d had broken in last night. Not...

Finally.....
I got to play on the plot! We went over earlyish and tied the pallets together( with pretty pink twine) to make the compost heap. It’s going to take an awful lot to fill it.
I also dug out a small trench and planted the spuds. had a bit of a mishap during the cold spell and some went slimy and mouldy,oh and the mice had a good feed. Anyway, during my trying to save aforementioned potatoes,...
Oh dear.
I have been poorly. Not been out and about for 10 days because of Flu! I never knew joints could swell up and hurt so much. Needless to say, I have not been over to the plot.
my mum rang and told me I needed to get everything fragile covered up and fleeced. Unfortunately, I still feel fragile myself and haven’t got the energy to go, so fingers crossed, the cold snap holds off til I can get...

Allotment Angel
It appears I have one! I popped over yesterday and Lo! My inherited bean frame that was in bits and which looked totally beyond repair, has miraculously been put back together again!!!! I suspect it was B.O.B. How he managed to resurrect it I have no idea, it’s huge. He must have coerced a couple of others to help.
I had planned to go today but was overtaken by events, so the plan is...

Allotmenteering, I am jealous!
I haven’t been near the allotment since before it snowed. I have taken delivery of some strawberries( I ordered them and they weren’t supposed to be delivered until March) So I have planted them up and they are residing in the kitchen, along with some garlic and a parsnip top!
I love allotmenteering’s photos. I am going to have to get a bit more on the ball. I am so looking...
Snow
it is 19:25 on saturday night and I am waiting for it to snow! It’s like the adult version of waiting for Christmas! I keep looking out the window to see if it’s here. i shouldnt be this excited as I am due to be up at 04:40 to go to work and stand outside in the freezing cold directing people onto buses.
No allotment visits this week but tomorrow I will especially if it snows, so I...

A.D.D rears it's ugly head
I so wanted to go to the allotment but what with the weather and work I was unable.
Now I have missed a few days and the urge to go has diminished, to the point of really can’t be bothered. This is not being helped by the weather report forecasting extremely cold weather.(well it is bloody winter) Anyway, I am very glad I haven’t got anything in the ground. Maybe I can get a good...

Cooooool!
Spent a couple of hours over there today, rain did not stop play. Continued to move ‘landfill’ earth, it is now going into the trench left over from the ploughing last week. I had planned to start the compost, but apart from the’ landfill ‘not being level yet, I cannot decide where to put it. No sign of Bloke On Bike(BOB), but did see my ‘neighbours’ from the...

rain stops play
Hey. I didn’t manage to get over yesterday( bad choice made, went shopping instead) upside was we had lunch at Wagamama, mmmmmmm. My neighbour was having a clear out of his garage when I got home ( hands rubbing in glee) he has kindly given me some lovely wooden poles, all they need is pointy bits and they would like vampire stakes( could be good for using on those bloody vandals), sorry, I...

a new dawn, a new day...
…and what looks like a new plot. I arrived on site, travel mug in hand( I had left it on the wall when getting stuff from the car and forgot it, so had to walk back to get it dragging my new trolley behind.) All eager, having my fork and sieve in the trolley, I made my way to my plot- it’s not easy pulling a trolley along those narrow pathways especially when inconsiderate buggers...

these boots were made for digging
Finally a break in the frost, just damp. I trundled over with my newly purchased laundry basket( to carry rubbish and more optimistically to gather my harvest). Oh and in case you were wondering why I am hunting tyres, it is to fill with earth and plant potatoes. also had a bit of a bright idea last night. I keep hearing people talking about using guttering for starting peas/beans off, and when...

losing the plot!
I am suffering cabin fever. Havn’t been able to get over to the lotty for 2 days cos of the weather. Well actually I popped over for 5 minutes this morning to drop over some pallets. I can now make the compost heap once I finish sorting out the ‘landfill’ as I affectionately call the mess at the back of the shed. I am on the hunt for a couple of tyres. I have drawn the line at...

Good Morning!
I am having quite a good week s o far, despite several break ins on site (see rant).
On the plus side, I discovered a house being gutted and managed to obtain loads of bricks and some carpet. Yes, carpet. apparently it’s good for protecting the ground from frost and helps stop weeds. Or it can be used to accentuate paths. Paths are very important as I have discovered when trying to move my...
break ins.
What is it that makes some people think it is perfectly acceptable to intrude on other people’s property, break into sheds, steal tools and such and vandalise the hard work that’s gone into the plot by trampling on everything, or pulling it up? Yes, i am aware that there is money in scrap metal, however, that does not mean it’s right to break in and steal other people’s to...

I have an allotment.........now what?
As I have A.D.D I will warn you that my posts may at times wander off the subject i started on, and if lucky may come back to it, but it’s a chance you have to take. These blogs are just for fun, I have no qualifications in either horticulture or mental health, but I hope they may be interesting and possibly informative as I want to try and show that gardening/ growing can be easy...
